Alcaraz into Paris quarter-finals after Berrettini withdraws

Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the Paris Masters quarter-finals after Matteo Berrettini withdrew from their scheduled third-round match with an arm injury. The walkover keeps Alcaraz’s bid for a fifth title this season on track.

Berrettini, ranked 43rd in the world, said he had been carrying arm pain for several days and would undergo examinations. Second seed Alcaraz will face either France’s Arthur Fils or American Taylor Fritz; he entered the tournament with a 39-5 season record and has already qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin.
