Alfonso Gomez-Rejon To Direct Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa’s New Disney+ Series ‘Afterlife with Archie’

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon will direct the pilot and second episode of Disney+’s planned series Afterlife with Archie, and will executive produce the episodes. The appointment adds an experienced director to the adaptation of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Francesco Francavilla’s comic, which brings a supernatural zombie apocalypse to Riverdale.

The series was greenlit in July. Its story begins when a spell cast by a teen witch goes wrong, unleashing possessed dead on the town; Archie and his friends must try to survive while their friendships and relationships are tested. Aguirre-Sacasa, Jimmy Gibbons, Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman and Jon Goldwater are among the executive producers.
