All 15 Madonna Albums, Ranked

Collider · 8 hours ago

Madonna is enjoying a major career resurgence following the release of Confessions II on 3 July 2026, a sequel to her acclaimed 2005 album Confessions on a Dancefloor. The record has been met with widespread critical praise and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, marking her tenth chart-topping album and making her the first artist to reach number one in the 2020s as well as three other decades, and the first female artist to top the charts across four separate decades.

To mark the milestone, Collider has ranked all 15 of Madonna's studio albums from worst to best, with Confessions II reportedly rated her highest-scoring record on Metacritic. The list traces her career from her 1958 birth in Bay City, Michigan, and early moves into New York's punk and dance scenes, through breakthrough singles such as "Holiday" and "Like a Virgin", to her status as history's best-selling female recording artist with more than 400 million records sold, according to Guinness World Records. The ranking places 2019's Madame X, described as chaotic but "fitfully brilliant" and shaped by her time in Portugal, at the bottom of the list.

  • Madonna's Confessions II debuted at number one on 3 July 2026.
  • It's her tenth US number one album, a record-extending achievement.
  • Collider ranks all 15 Madonna studio albums, with Madame X placed last.
