Fortnite Chapter 7, Season 4 introduces Match Overrides, a new mechanic that lets players alter game rules from consoles scattered around the island. Most Overrides affect everyone in the match, while a smaller number of rarer ones benefit only the activating player and their team, making the feature a significant new layer of strategy and risk-reward decision-making for the current season.

There are currently 12 Match Overrides available, including effects such as increased movement speed, faster weapon reload and fire rates, an extra life on elimination, constant health regeneration, boosted headshot damage and increased odds of finding Epic or Legendary loot. Interacting with a console offers a random choice of three Overrides, and triggering a Rare or Mythic one reveals the player's location to the whole lobby, while any activation reveals their name at the console, adding a risk to the reward. Overrides are also tied to certain in-game quests, giving players extra incentive to use them.
