Explained simply

Netflix is a subscription streaming service that commissions and acquires films and series from around the world. Its international film teams work with producers and filmmakers in different regions, where language, audiences and film industries vary.

Sasha Bühler joined Netflix in 2019 and led film work across several European markets before focusing on German-language productions. Her role connected the company with local creators and helped shape which films it made or acquired for viewers in those countries.

The German-language market is one part of Netflix’s wider international operation, and films from the region can also reach audiences globally through the service. Bühler’s work included award-winning and popular titles; Netflix says Katja Hofem is overseeing German programming, including films, while the company has not announced Bühler’s next role.
