‘All Quiet On The Western Front’ Exec Sasha Bühler Exits International Film Role At Netflix

Deadline · 2 hours ago

Sasha Bühler, one of Netflix's leading international film executives, has left the streamer after nearly seven years, Deadline reports. She held the role of Director of Film for German-speaking Europe, having originally joined in 2019 to establish regional teams and set creative strategy across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, the Nordics and Central and Eastern Europe, before relocating to Berlin in 2021 to focus on the core German-speaking market.

During her tenure, Bühler oversaw All Quiet on the Western Front, which won four Academy Awards from nine nominations and seven BAFTAs from fourteen nods, as well as more recent hits Exterritorial and Brick, both ranked among Netflix's all-time top ten non-English-language films. Netflix confirmed her departure and said Katja Hofem is currently overseeing all German programming, spanning series, film, unscripted and acquisitions; no details on Bühler's next move have been announced. She joined Netflix from Constantin Film, where over eleven years she acquired titles including Dirty Grandpa, Florence Foster Jenkins and You Were Never Really Here, having previously headed acquisitions at SquareOne Entertainment.
