Explained simply
Album release calendars bring together new studio records with shorter releases such as EPs, live recordings and collections of older material. These formats can offer different ways to hear an artist’s work, from new songs to performances or expanded versions of past albums.
The names in this month’s line-up span several generations and styles, including U2, Shygirl, Sufjan Stevens, Bob Dylan and Girls Aloud. Anniversary and deluxe editions can add archival recordings or extra tracks, while tribute collections bring artists together to revisit another musician’s catalogue.
