Chilean couple held in Bali over cocaine haul worth $2.2m

Daily Mail ·

A Chilean couple travelling from Santiago via Melbourne to Bali were arrested after police allegedly found cocaine in their carry-on bags. The case matters because authorities say the shipment was intended for distribution in Bali, where cocaine can command a high price.

Police say X-rays revealed 4.59kg of cocaine, estimated to be worth $2.2 million, concealed in false compartments and wrapped in four black packages. Two men and a woman are accused of involvement, including an Indonesian national alleged to have been the recipient; the alleged controller remains at large.
