Alt Rock Band THE YAGAS, Featuring Actress VERA FARMIGA, Releases New Single ‘Runaway’
The Yagas, an alternative rock band fronted by actress Vera Farmiga, have released “Runaway”, a synth-heavy, 1980s-inspired single and accompanying music video. The song marks a change in the band’s sound and explores moving towards love, joy and a more hopeful life.
Farmiga said the song was shaped by the fear she and keyboardist Renn Hawkey felt after their young child was diagnosed with autism; 16 years later, she said, their daughter has brought them joy and changed their outlook. In the video, directed by Sam Reiss, the band appear as a ghostly house band in an old asylum while Farmiga plays a former patient who escapes. The group also includes drummer Jason Bowman and guitarist Mark Visconti, and has accumulated more than 35 million streams and video views.
