Amazon is developing a Warhammer 40,000 animated show
Amazon, Blur Studios, and Games Workshop have announced an animated television series based on Warhammer 40,000. The project expands from a standalone episode in Amazon's Secret Level anthology, which adapted various video game properties. Director Dave Wilson, who created the original Warhammer segment for that show, will return to direct the new adaptation and serve as co-creator.
The production team combines major entertainment and gaming talent. Henry Cavill, a prominent Warhammer 40K enthusiast, has signed on as an executive producer and continues his involvement with other franchise adaptations. Tim Miller, creator of the Secret Level anthology, and his studio Blur Studios are also contributing to the project. Meanwhile, the franchise's live-action adaptations have moved slowly, with scriptwriting only recently commencing despite Amazon acquiring the rights several years earlier. Games Workshop's leadership recently confirmed Cavill remains attached to those parallel live-action efforts.
