Amazon MGM Studios is moving forward with an animated feature focused on the Mad Hatter character from Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. Scott Mosier, a filmmaker known for his work on the Clerks franchise, has been tapped to adapt the material. The production is being handled by Aniventure, an animation company with an established working relationship across major studios including Netflix, Paramount, and Sony.

Mosier brings substantial experience in animation direction, having previously written and produced the 2013 film Free Birds and directed Illumination's 2018 Grinch adaptation, which achieved considerable commercial success with over $500 million in worldwide box office revenue. He has also contributed voice performances to animated projects including Sing 2 and The Secret Life of Pets II, establishing him as an established creative presence in the animation industry.
