Amazon MGM Studios is developing a one-hour series based on Adrienne Miller’s short story “Shadow Work”, after the project attracted multiple offers. Miller will write the pilot and executive produce, alongside former Amazon executive Marc Resteghini, whose Jack Tar Pictures has an overall deal with the studio.

The story centres on Genevieve Pearce, a ghostwriter who shapes the public stories of powerful clients while confronting a version of her own past she helped rewrite. Miller is also the author of the novel “The Coast of Akron” and the memoir “In the Land of Men”, and has contributed to Vogue. Resteghini is an executive producer on Amazon’s “Young Sherlock” and has several other adaptation projects in development.
