Amazon unveils bedroom alarm clock with optional sleep tracking features
Amazon has introduced the Echo Time, a bedroom-focused smart alarm clock with optional features intended to make waking up and winding down easier. It has no camera, shows when Alexa is listening and includes a button to switch off its microphones, addressing privacy concerns about placing a voice assistant in the bedroom.
The device has a customisable 3.2-inch touchscreen, sunrise-style display and sensors that can wake users during lighter sleep within 10 to 60 minutes of their chosen alarm time. These features are optional for people who need to wake at a fixed time. The standard Echo Time costs $200, with a stand sold separately for $40; a children’s version costs $210 and includes one year of Amazon Kids+.
In short
- Echo Time is designed specifically for bedrooms.
- Optional sensors can shift wake-up time by 10 to 60 minutes.
- The standard model costs $200; the Kids version is $210.
