‘American Experience’ to Release Four-Part Series on the History of the FBI in 2027
PBS documentary strand American Experience will release a four-part series examining the FBI’s history and its use and abuse of power in autumn 2027. The Bureau: A Secret History of the FBI will explore the agency’s rise, weaponisation and endurance, placing one of America’s most powerful law-enforcement bodies under historical scrutiny.
The series will be directed by Sharon Grimberg and Sarah Colt. It follows American Experience’s three-part Lindbergh documentary, due in May 2027, while a series on the Great Depression remains in development; the 37-year-old brand also said its social-media videos gained more than 19 million views over five months, up 273% year on year.
