American Horror Story is an American television horror anthology created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. Each season usually tells a separate story, with recurring actors playing different characters in settings ranging from haunted houses and asylums to witches’ covens and travelling shows.

Jessica Lange was a central performer in the programme’s early seasons, playing several major roles, while Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett and Kathy Bates have also become closely associated with the series. The Rubber Man is one of its best-known masked figures, first appearing in the opening season.

The new season is intended to connect characters and ideas from different parts of the anthology. That makes it notable for long-time viewers, while the shorter episode length and release schedule mark a change from the hour-long format used by most previous seasons.
