American Horror Story is a US television horror series created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. It began in 2011 and is an anthology, meaning each season usually tells a different story with new characters, settings and themes.
The programme is known for reusing many of the same actors in different roles, including Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Jessica Lange, Angela Bassett and Emma Roberts. Past seasons have included stories about haunted houses, witches, asylums, hotels and cults, and some later instalments have linked characters and events across those settings.
FX is the US television network behind the series, while Hulu is a streaming service that carries its programmes. The new season’s links to earlier stories are likely to matter especially to long-term viewers, because they may bring together elements from different parts of the show’s history.
