‘American Idol’ Winner Hannah Harper Reveals What Fans Didn’t See During Her Life-Changing Audition One Year Ago
Country singer Hannah Harper marked the first anniversary of her American Idol audition, describing the nerves and family pressures that accompanied the day she received a golden ticket. She went on to win the programme, and says the experience let her share her faith, music and personal story with a wider audience.
Harper recalled arriving at Belmont University in Nashville while cold and anxious, after singing mainly with her family and in churches. Her one-year-old was upset shortly before the audition, and she initially expected to perform her song “String Cheese” and go home. Since winning, she has toured, made her Grand Ole Opry debut and released music; she also thanked her family and touring team, saying 14 people shared 45 feet of living space for much of the year. She said an announcement about a 2027 tour is coming soon.
