Scotty McCreery, who won American Idol's tenth season in 2011, has said he plans to spend less time touring as his young family grows, though he insisted retirement remains far from his mind. In an interview with Taste of Country Nights, the country singer, who turns 33 in a few weeks, explained that being present for his children's milestones is becoming a priority, even as he continues to release music and perform.

McCreery said his eldest son, Avery, will turn five next year and is due to start school and Little League, prompting the singer to reconsider his packed touring schedule. He noted he has played more than 400 shows in the past couple of years, but stressed he still loves performing with his band and connecting with fans, framing the change as scaling back rather than stepping away from music altogether.
