A new analysis of Google Trends search data by consumer research firm Innerbody Research has ranked US states by their interest in beer, crowning Wisconsin as America's top beer-loving state for the second year running. The study highlights the Midwest as the country's "beer belt," reflecting the region's long-standing brewing heritage and its more recent craft beer resurgence, while offering insight into how historic brand entry and regional culture continue to shape American drinking habits.

Wisconsin topped the rankings, followed by Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa, with most Midwestern states featuring in the top 20. Pacific coast states, including Alaska, Washington, California, Oregon and Hawaii, showed the least search interest. Experts noted that brand loyalty often stems from which beer first reached a market — Miller in Wisconsin, Budweiser in St Louis — while Michelob Ultra generated the most searches overall and has also become the top-selling US beer by volume, ahead of Bud Light and Modelo Especial.
