Amon Amarth have announced their new album, The Allfather Awakens, due for release on 2 October via Metal Blade Records, alongside the release of a new single, "Gjallarhorn." The Swedish melodic death metal veterans have paired the announcement with a stage overhaul, replacing their long-standing longboat prop with one modelled on Odin's golden hall, which will debut on their forthcoming UK and European tour.

"Gjallarhorn" blends the band's established melodic death metal style with elements of modern thrash, drawing comparisons to earlier albums Twilight of the Thunder God and Surtur Rising. The ten-track record follows previously released singles "We Rule the Waves" and "Upphaf," the latter marking the band's first acoustic track. Guitarist Olavi Mikkonen said each song was fully completed in turn before work began on the next. The album is available for pre-order in various vinyl editions, and the band's UK/European tour runs from October to November.
