Amy Helm, daughter of the late musician Levon Helm, is facing a lawsuit alleging she caused at least $2 million in damages to Levon Helm Studios (LHS), the Woodstock venue also known as the Barn. The suit, filed in federal court in New York, forms part of an escalating dispute over control of the studio and centres on claims of financial mismanagement during Helm's tenure as LHS president from 2017 to 2026, alongside trademark infringement allegations over her continued use of the "Midnight Ramble" name.

The complaint alleges a review of LHS's finances uncovered millions of dollars in self-dealing transactions benefiting Helm, including $400,000 in charges to the company for personal expenses such as touring costs, tax repayments, insurance, a driver and legal fees, of which $167,000 could not be justified as legitimate. It also alleges Helm forced LHS to repay a pandemic-era small business loan taken out for her own touring company and took out nearly $200,000 in loans from her father's estate. The suit further details a confrontational altercation on 28 May, two days after Helm was ousted from LHS management, in which she is accused of berating her stepmother Sandy Helm and shoving shareholder Brian Parillo, though police who attended filed no charges. Helm has separately accused Parillo of elder abuse and financial exploitation, claims he denies while accusing her of blocking shareholders' access to records.
