An animator at Ghost of Yotei studio Sucker Punch just released his own action RPG on Steam, and he can’t believe its success: “36,000 COPIES SOLD IN 24 HOURS”

Sucker Punch senior animator Jean Nguyen has released Dinoblade, his dinosaur-themed action RPG, on Steam and says it sold 36,000 copies in its first 24 hours. The unexpectedly strong launch highlights the demand for the game’s unusual premise, in which dinosaurs fight using enormous swords held in their teeth.

Dinoblade began as a joke project before developing into a full game, following a Steam demo released in 2025. Nguyen shared the sales figure in an enthusiastic post, expressing disbelief at the response as players embraced its Soulslike-style combat and deliberately absurd concept.

  • Dinoblade sold 36,000 copies in its first day.
  • It was created by Sucker Punch animator Jean Nguyen.
  • Dinosaur sword combat helped the indie RPG stand out.
