Analogue is re-releasing its SNES and Genesis consoles with some nice upgrades

The Verge ·

Analogue has announced updated versions of its Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis cartridge consoles, adding wireless controller support and revised hardware. The releases offer a way to play original cartridges on modern displays while making setup and everyday use more convenient.

The Super Nt Plus and Mega Sg Plus use FPGA processors to reproduce the consoles’ original hardware and output at up to 1080p, rather than using emulation or offering 4K. Both add USB-C power, a USB-A port, Bluetooth or low-latency 2.4GHz wireless, and support for changing cartridges through a menu without powering down. Pre-orders open on 19 October at 9am PT/11am ET for $219.99 each, with shipping expected in December.
