Google has added a tap-to-share option to Android’s Quick Share feature, allowing compatible phones to exchange files and contact information by being brought together. The change makes Android’s nearby-sharing system more comparable with Apple’s AirDrop and is intended to make transfers quicker and simpler.

The update is available immediately for Pixel 6-series phones and newer models. It uses NFC and proximity to share contacts, photos, videos and other content through the share menu; Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Fold 8 and Flip 8 will receive it soon, with more Android devices promised by the end of the year.
