Anna Kendrick said she is “over the moon” about directing Netflix’s adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. She also reflected on her first directing experience, the support she received from Brittany Snow, and how Pitch Perfect shaped her career and enduring friendships.

The film is being written by Liz Tigelaar, with revisions from Francesca Sloane, while Jenkins Reid is executive producing. Kendrick noted that Pitch Perfect was successful but not initially a major box-office hit; its later popularity included the “Cup Song”, which achieved more than 2.5 million downloads, over 600 million YouTube views and a No. 6 peak on the Billboard Hot 100. She described the film’s cast as a close-knit support network and discussed reuniting with Seth Rogen in Babies, directed by his wife Lauren Miller Rogen.
