US streamer MGM+ has acquired the six-part action thriller "Embassy" for American audiences, joining a growing roster of international broadcasters carrying the series. The show is led by Anna Kendrick as an American diplomat navigating a hostage crisis at the US embassy in London, and its ensemble cast and high-profile production team position it as a flagship title for MGM+'s push into "cinematic" prestige thrillers.

Created and written by Rom Lotan, "Embassy" also stars Sam Heughan as Kendrick's British ex-fiancé and SAS soldier, and J.K. Simmons as the US ambassador, with John Strickland and Christian Alvart directing. Its plot centres on Layla, a diplomat forced to choose between protecting the ambassador and exfiltrating a high-value asset when mercenaries storm the embassy. Filmed in Cologne and London, the series has already been sold to Prime Video for the UK, Ireland, Canada, France, Australia and New Zealand, to ZDF for Germany, and now to MGM+ for the US, Italy, Spain, Belgium, the Netherlands and several Latin American markets. It is produced by AGC Television, Ascendant Fox and Turbine Studios.
