The discussions address concerns over Galliano’s antisemitic remarks in 2011 and are significant because the exhibition and gala will celebrate a designer whose career remains marked by that controversy.

Galliano was Dior’s head designer from 1996 until 2011, when footage showed him making antisemitic insults in a Paris bar; he was later convicted of a hate crime and fined. He apologised, citing alcoholism and drug addiction, while Rabbi Rick Jacobs praised his apparent sincerity in recent meetings and the Anti-Defamation League said it had accepted his apology. The exhibition, titled *John Galliano: Horizons*, is expected to examine both his fashion influence and the 2011 incident.
