Comedian Jimmy Kimmel will release his interview with Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico directly on YouTube rather than broadcasting it on Jimmy Kimmel Live, citing fears of retaliation from the Trump administration's Federal Communications Commission. Kimmel said the FCC, under chair Brendan Carr, has repeatedly threatened him, his show and ABC's network and local affiliates over routine editorial and guest-booking decisions, prompting him to shield Texas affiliates from potential fallout by moving the interview online.

This follows a similar move by Stephen Colbert in February, who said CBS blocked him from airing his own Talarico interview on television, citing FCC concerns over the equal time rule, and posted it to YouTube instead. The FCC has also targeted The View after it interviewed Talarico earlier this year. Kimmel's show was previously pulled off air for several days last year following FCC threats, and ABC filed a lawsuit against the FCC last month alleging a "retaliatory campaign" that has included threats to pull the network's broadcast licenses.
