Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School, the co-op puzzle sequel from Coin Crew Games, is launching in November 2026 despite the month being dominated by Grand Theft Auto 6 and Nintendo's Zelda release, a slot most publishers avoid. Studio co-founder Mike Salyh said a smaller indie title can comfortably coexist with a blockbuster like GTA 6, arguing it is easier to stand out as "the little guy in the room with the big guy" than to compete with rival titles in a crowded September. The launch comes as multiplayer and co-op games are enjoying a resurgence, following the success of titles such as Big Walk and Orbitals.

Coin Crew Games, founded by real-life escape room designers, debuted with Escape Academy in 2022, a pandemic-era project that used an Xbox Game Pass deal to build its audience before expanding through DLCs such as Tournament of Puzzles. Positive community feedback convinced the team to develop a full sequel rather than further add-ons, resulting in Back 2 School, which retains split-screen escape-room puzzles but adds a larger school setting to explore, more characters, a stronger narrative, and an adventure-game structure the developers compare to Banjo-Kazooie. The team said the game's blend of puzzles and open exploration was validated by the success of last year's Blue Prince.
