Another BioWare veteran steps forth to say a Dragon Age remaster isn’t impossible, but that doesn’t mean it will happen: “In no means a trivial exercise”
Former BioWare executive producer Mark Darrah has said a remaster of the Dragon Age games is possible, but warned that it would be far more complicated than many fans may expect. His comments add to recent discussion from other former developers, while underlining that no remaster has been announced by BioWare or publisher EA.
Darrah said the technical work would not be trivial, particularly because the first three Dragon Age games were built using different technology and development approaches. Dragon Age: Origins used BioWare’s Eclipse engine, while Dragon Age II and Inquisition used different versions of Frostbite; updating them for modern platforms could therefore require substantial investment rather than a straightforward visual upgrade.
- A Dragon Age remaster is possible, but remains unannounced.
- Different game engines make the project technically difficult.
- Former BioWare staff stress the likely cost and complexity.
