Daily Mail · 58 minutes ago

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the United Nations and signed a 10-year bilateral security agreement. Australia will provide a further $60 million in support for Ukraine, as Albanese reaffirmed that Russia’s invasion has implications for international security and the global rules-based order.

The package includes $45 million in Australian defence equipment, $10 million for Ukraine’s energy support fund and $5 million in humanitarian assistance, taking Australia’s total aid since 2022 to $1.9 billion. The agreement also covers military training, possible joint production of air-defence systems, missiles and drones, naval support with Britain and Norway, infrastructure rebuilding and cooperation beyond the war; additional sanctions bring Australia’s total targeting Russia and its supporters above 1,900.
