Sir Anthony Hopkins has signed a record deal with the classical music label Decca Classics and will release an album of his own compositions next month. Titled *Life Is A Dream*, the record features works written by Hopkins across different periods of his life, performed by conductor Gustavo Dudamel and the Philharmonia Orchestra. The move highlights a lesser-known side of the Oscar-winning actor, whom Decca described as a composer whose music shares the emotional depth and storytelling of his screen career.
Born in Port Talbot, Wales, Hopkins began playing the piano at the age of four and reportedly performed Beethoven and Chopin a few years later, saying that music was his "first desire". The album's first release is a piece titled *Bracken Road*, from his *1947: Suite for Solo Piano and Orchestra*, inspired by childhood memories of Margam in South Wales. Recorded at Alexandra Palace in London in April 2026, the project also features pianist Sergio Tiempo, cellist Gregorio Nieto, The Bach Choir and the Boy Choristers of Winchester Cathedral.
