Anthropic has entered into a $10 billion compute partnership with Volta, an AI cloud provider founded earlier this year, to be fulfilled over a six-year period. The arrangement involves construction of a Norwegian data centre with 133 megawatts of capacity, developed jointly by Volta and cryptocurrency mining company Bitdeer, and will utilise Nvidia's Vera Rubin AI processors.

The deal reflects Anthropic's recent effort to aggressively expand its computational infrastructure as competition intensifies within the AI industry. This announcement follows recent similar arrangements with Amazon and SpaceX, signalling the company's strategy to secure sufficient resources for continued development and scaling of its Claude platform.
