Right-wing activist Daniel Thomas, known as "Danny Tommo," has been remanded in custody following his appearance at Portsmouth Crown Court today. He is charged with criminal damage and failing to disclose his mobile phone PIN, relating to an incident where he allegedly slashed a migrant boat in the English Channel whilst rescue crews were operating nearby. The case represents a high-profile confrontation between anti-migrant activism and law enforcement operations in the Channel.

The 37-year-old, who has the support of fellow activist Tommy Robinson, pleaded not guilty to both charges. A provisional trial date has been set for March 1, 2027, with his next court appearance on November 12, 2026. The judge declined Thomas's bail despite defence proposals for strict conditions, stating that political considerations would not influence his decision. According to prosecutors, Thomas approached a dinghy carrying migrants being rescued by the RNLI, Border Force and French Coastguard, and slashed it with a knife whilst making statements about English territory.
