Anyone Can Play Soulframe For Free Starting Next Week
Soulframe is moving from invite-only playtesting to an open alpha: anyone with a Windows PC can try Soulframe Open Preludes for free from 6 November. The change gives Digital Extremes a wider pool of players to provide feedback as development continues.
The alpha must be downloaded from the game’s website and will not be available through Steam or other launchers. Later in November, the Verse of the Veilands update will add new regions and progression systems, including a Pact called Ode Shrike that can evolve into the game’s first mount, the Omen Wolf. Digital Extremes has not announced a date for the wider PC launch.
In short
- Soulframe’s free, open PC alpha begins on 6 November.
- Players will need to download it from the game’s website.
- A later update adds new regions and the first mount.
Explained simply
Soulframe is a fantasy action game being made by Digital Extremes, the studio behind Warframe. It has been tested by a limited number of invited players while development continues.
The open alpha, called Open Preludes, is an early version of the game that Windows PC players can try for free. Digital Extremes can use feedback from a larger group to help shape the game, which is still in development.
The game’s website is the only way to download the alpha; it will not be on Steam or other launchers. Its planned Verse of the Veilands update is set to add new areas and progression systems, including a Pact that can develop into a mount.
