Apple Arcade just got this retro-inspired gem

Engadget · 2 hours ago

Apple Arcade has added Retro Bowl College+, the subscription-service version of New Star Games' 2023 college football spin-off, giving players control of one of more than 250 teams while retaining the series' pixel-art visuals and simplified, drag-and-swipe controls. The release matters because it brings a previously freemium mobile hit onto Apple Arcade with all paid features unlocked and no adverts or in-app purchases, adding to a growing lineup of football titles on the service.

Unlike the free App Store version, which charges up to $9.99 for Coaching Credit packs and a $0.99 Unlimited upgrade, Retro Bowl College+ launches with the 12-player roster, kick returns, team and conference editor and Exhibition Mode already unlocked. It also introduces a League Style option, letting players adjust seeding, conferences and rosters to mirror past years, alongside updated 2026 league data; this feature has since been added to the standard App Store version too. Apple Arcade's football catalogue is expanding further, with Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition already available and NFL Retro Bowl '27 due on 3 September.

  • Apple Arcade adds Retro Bowl College+ with all paid features unlocked free.
  • No ads or in-app purchases, unlike the standard App Store version.
  • New League Style option and 2026 data added; more Retro Bowl titles coming.
