Apple TV has officially announced that its crime thriller "The Savant" will be released in Spring 2027, ending months of uncertainty surrounding the show. The series was initially postponed just three days before its premiere following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, a decision that prompted criticism from lead actress Jessica Chastain, who stated she was not aligned with the pause.

The Savant is inspired by the true-life story "Is It Possible to Stop a Mass Shooting Before It Happens?" and follows an undercover investigator who tracks online hate groups to stop domestic extremists. The controversial circumstances surrounding the postponement are expected to generate significant viewership curiosity, though the series is unlikely to rival the current Apple TV chart-topper Ted Lasso, which is in its fourth season and approaching 1,000 days in the U.S. top ten.
