Apple TV’s Breakout Hit Is Officially Streaming’s Biggest New Series
Apple TV's comedy-horror series Widow's Bay has become a rare streaming success story, remaining in Apple TV's global top ten chart for months after its season finale rather than fading quickly as most streaming shows do. Created by Katie Dippold and led by Matthew Rhys, the show has earned near-universal acclaim and secured a Season 2 renewal, marking it as one of the platform's biggest hits of the year.
The series scored 98% with critics and 92% with audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and has picked up 19 Emmy nominations, already winning eight in the creative categories ahead of the main ceremony on Monday. Its Season 1 finale aired on 17 June, and although it has slipped from its number one peak, it still ranks eighth on Apple TV's global chart, an unusually long shelf life given Apple TV does not publish official viewership figures. All episodes are currently streaming on Apple TV in the US.
