Apple TV's new crime thriller Lucky, starring Anya Taylor-Joy, has rapidly become the platform's most-watched show worldwide, overtaking the crime series Cape Fear in the top spot. The rise of Lucky underlines Apple TV's growing push into crime and mystery thrillers this year, building on the streamer's strong track record in prestige drama previously driven by sci-fi hits such as Severance and Pluribus.

Cape Fear, a remake of the 1991 Robert De Niro classic, stars Javier Bardem, Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson, and began airing in early June with two episodes released at launch. Its eighth episode aired just before Lucky's release, leaving two episodes left in its first season, and it has held a consistent top-three position on Apple TV throughout its run, though no decision has yet been made on a second season.
