Apple TV has cast Stephen Graham as a serial killer in the upcoming limited series "Nocturne," marking a notable departure for the actor known for morally complex, high-intensity roles in productions such as "Line of Duty," "Adolescence" and "Boiling Point." Co-star Poorna Jagannathan, who worked alongside Graham, has praised his performance as transformative, comparing the show favourably to "The Silence of the Lambs" and describing it as more frightening than anything she has previously encountered in the genre.

Based on two novels by Lars Kepler, "Nocturne" follows homicide detective Jonah Lynn, played by Liev Schreiber, who relocates to a small town in Western Pennsylvania only to find himself and his family targeted by Graham's character, killer Jurek Walker. Zazie Beetz co-stars as FBI Agent Saga Bauer, who goes undercover to try to outwit him. Tom Hardy was originally attached to the role before Graham was cast. The ten-episode series premieres on Apple TV on 30 October, beginning with a two-episode launch followed by weekly instalments.
