Apple TV’s Twisted 10-Part Book Adaptation Is Rising on Streaming Ahead of the Finale

Collider · 3 hours ago

Apple TV's thriller Cape Fear is climbing the streaming charts just ahead of its finale, airing on 31 July 2026. Starring Amy Adams and Javier Bardem, the 10-part miniseries reworks John D. MacDonald's 1956 novel The Executioners and Martin Scorsese's 1991 film of the same name, following a lawyer's family terrorised by criminal Max Cady. Its rise in popularity matters partly because of the pedigree involved: Scorsese and Steven Spielberg both serve as executive producers, lending the remake unusual creative continuity with the original film.

According to FlixPatrol, Cape Fear is currently the second most-watched series on Apple TV worldwide, behind only Silo's third-season premiere, and ranks 11th globally so far in 2026. Showrunner Nick Antosca praised Scorsese and Spielberg's hands-on involvement, describing Scorsese's notes as generous suggestions rather than mandates. Critical reception has been mixed, with the series holding a 75% average on Rotten Tomatoes from critics.
