Apple has announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, maintaining the design aesthetic of the previous generation whilst introducing significant camera and software enhancements. The 18 Pro begins at $1,199 for 256GB storage—a $100 increase from its predecessor—whilst the 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299, with both variants available with up to 2TB of storage.

The standout improvements centre on photography capabilities. A variable physical aperture in the main camera allows users to control the amount of light reaching the sensor, delivering improved low-light performance and enhanced depth-of-field control. Apple is introducing a "Reference Image" feature that cryptographically verifies photograph authenticity by digitally signing individual pixels during capture, processed through Apple's Private Cloud Compute infrastructure. The native camera application gains new professional manual controls, positioning these devices as more sophisticated tools for photography enthusiasts.
