Apple will reportedly debut its first touchscreen MacBook in three weeks
Apple is planning to unveil its first touchscreen MacBook Pro around October 27th, alongside an updated iPad Mini, according to Bloomberg reports. The announcement comes just two weeks after Apple's October 13th event, and will feature both an online video presentation and an in-person press component, mirroring the format of the earlier event.
The new MacBook Pros will be lighter than current models and feature touchscreen OLED displays with iPhone-like Dynamic Island interfaces. Apple will simultaneously introduce MacBook Pros in the current design with the new M6 chip. The iPad Mini, last refreshed in 2024, will receive a redesign repositioning its front-facing camera to the landscape side and introducing a revamped speaker system.

Apple’s MacBook Pro is a laptop aimed at people who need a more powerful computer, while the iPad Mini is a smaller tablet. MacBooks have traditionally been controlled with a keyboard and trackpad; iPads use a touchscreen. Apple has updated both product lines over the years, but has not previously made a touchscreen MacBook.
The MacBook Pro is part of Apple’s wider Mac range, which also includes lighter laptops, and its computers use chips designed by Apple. OLED screens, used in some phones and tablets, light their pixels individually. The Dynamic Island is an iPhone display feature that shows alerts and ongoing activities around the camera area.
A touchscreen MacBook would bring a familiar tablet-style way of interacting to Apple’s laptop range. Changes to the iPad Mini’s camera position and speakers would also affect how it is used, particularly when held sideways for video calls or watching content.
