AR Content, Vertigo Entertainment and Blumhouse Atomic Monster are jointly developing an English-language remake of "Vincent Must Die," the acclaimed French-Belgian horror thriller directed by Stéphan Castang that premiered at Cannes' Directors' Fortnight in 2023. Screenwriter David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, best known for "Orphan," "Aquaman" and "The Conjuring: Last Rites," will write and direct the remake, marking his feature directorial debut. The project brings together heavyweight genre producers and signals continued Hollywood interest in adapting acclaimed European horror for wider audiences.

The original film, starring Karim Leklou, follows an ordinary man suddenly targeted by violent attacks from anyone who makes eye contact with him, and earned nominations for Cannes' Caméra d'Or, a César for best first film, and Lumière Awards for best actor and best first film. The remake will be produced by AR Content's Alexander Rodnyansky, Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment and Michael Clear of Atomic Monster, alongside Michael Kupisk, with Stuart Manashil executive producing; the project was optioned from sales company Goodfellas. AR Content is also currently at the Venice Film Festival with two other premieres and is set to release the limited series "High Value Target: The Hunt for Saddam" on TNT later this month.
