Released 31 July via Republic Records, petal earned 295,000 equivalent album units in its opening week in the US, marking Grande's seventh chart-topping album and her first since Eternal Sunshine in 2024, underscoring her continued dominance across the industry's key charts.

The album's lead single, "Hate That I Made You Love Me," climbs to No. 2, while the title track debuts at No. 4, Grande's 24th career top 10 hit.
