Ariana Grande Debuts ‘Petal’ Title Track at Eternal Sunshine Tour Show: ‘Don’t Need Someone to Save Me’

Billboard · 3 hours ago

Ariana Grande gave fans in Montreal an unexpected treat on her Eternal Sunshine Tour by performing "Petal," the previously unheard title track from her forthcoming eighth studio album, days before its release. The live debut, delivered during her 28 July show at the Bell Centre, offered the clearest preview yet of the record's sound and themes, adding to mounting anticipation ahead of its arrival at the end of the week.

The performance came as Grande also revived "Worst Behavior" from the deluxe edition of her 2021 album Positions for the first time live, and followed up the next day with Instagram photos from an accompanying visual project, captioned with further "Petal" lyrics. The song's lyrics touch on independence and resilience, with Grande singing "I don't need someone to save me." Petal lands on 31 July, two years after Eternal Sunshine, which topped the Billboard 200 for three weeks and yielded two US number-one singles; its lead single, "Hate That I Made You Love Me," has already reached number one, becoming her tenth chart-topper. The tour continues in Montreal and Chicago before a ten-night residency at London's O2 Arena.

  • Grande debuted new "Petal" track live in Montreal before album's release.
  • Petal album arrives 31 July, following 2024's Eternal Sunshine.
  • Tour heads to Chicago, then a 10-night O2 Arena run in London.
