Ariana Grande has filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court against a group of unidentified hackers accused of stealing and leaking her unreleased music and videos over a period of more than a decade. The suit, filed on Monday, names the defendants as "John Doe 1" and "John Does 2 through 100" and seeks to uncover their identities, alleging repeated invasions of privacy and violations of California's Comprehensive Data Access and Fraud Act. The case highlights the ongoing security risks faced by high-profile artists, whose collaborators are often targeted as a weaker point of entry to sensitive material.

The lawsuit states that 45 unreleased songs were leaked in 2023 alone, part of hundreds of similar incidents since Grande's music career began in 2011, encompassing unfinished masters, demos, session footage, music videos and behind-the-scenes material later sold or published on platforms including X, TikTok and YouTube. Rather than hacking Grande directly, the perpetrators are accused of targeting people who work with her: stealing photos from a photographer's Dropbox in 2019, taking footage from a producer's hacked mobile device in 2020, and using phishing emails in 2024 to obtain images from a technician working with one of her photographers.
