‘Army Of Thieves’ Matthias Schweighöfer Latest To Join New Line’s ‘The Conjuring: First Communion’

German actor Matthias Schweighöfer has joined the cast of New Line's horror prequel The Conjuring: First Communion, the latest entry in the highly lucrative Conjuring Universe. His specific role has not yet been disclosed, and he joins previously announced leads Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix, who will play young versions of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren.

The Conjuring franchise is the highest-grossing horror series of all time, having taken over $2.7 billion globally, with the most recent instalment, Last Rites, becoming its top earner at over $499 million worldwide. First Communion is directed by Rodrigue Huart from a script by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg, produced by Peter Safran, and is scheduled for release on 10 September 2027. Schweighöfer is known for Army of Thieves and Oppenheimer, among other credits, and is repped by UTA and Untitled.
