South Yorkshire Police have arrested 14 people, including a 17-year-old boy, as part of an operation targeting organised vehicle crime in Doncaster. Officers searched multiple caravan sites in the Mexborough and Bentley areas on Wednesday, seizing several vehicles and vehicle parts. The force said the crackdown was aimed at criminal networks it believes are stealing cars and stripping them for parts or trading them onward.

Those detained face suspicion of offences including theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods and dangerous driving. Det Insp Jim Smith said stolen vehicles are often broken down in "chop shops", used to commit further crimes, or traded within wider criminal networks, adding that this activity fuels crime, violence and antisocial behaviour in local communities.
