Canadian artist Art d'Ecco has announced a new album, 'Scheele's Green', due for release on 23 October. The title references a real historical pigment invented in 1775 that became a fashionable but ultimately poisonous status symbol among the wealthy, which the Vancouver-based musician uses as a metaphor for modern society's attraction to harmful trends such as social media.

The album's opening single, 'The Death Of Indie', is a seven-minute track described as an ambitious, journey-like opus. Art d'Ecco has explained that the toxic allure of the original Scheele's Green pigment mirrors humanity's ongoing fascination with things that project status and appeal but ultimately cause harm.
